The pupils of our school are joining with the Mercy order to celebrate Mercy Day today, (oficially the 24th September). We are attending mass in the church of Our Lady and St. David at 11.30am.
Some of our more senior girls recall this very special day in Junior Infants
My First Day of School
On my first day of school,
I got up feeling good, feeling good about going to school
After I had my uniform on , I felt proud.
I was going to be a big girl now
“I will be able to add 2 and 2 .
After my mum had dropped me off at my line
All I could hear was, guess what crying.
I felt like every other person was crying ,
Finally when all that was over we played with toys,
I thought we could play with them forever
Work was boring , but before we knew it was time to go home
My First Day of Junior Infants by Ava
On my first day, I cried and cried the whole day until all my spirit was gone away. And then, about an hour later, I looked up and then my teacher was there teaching away. Then I realised I had been crying the whole day but still I made good friends on my very first day!

On my first day of school I missed my mum so much. I cried a little bit but then I went off and played with toys. I drew a picture of my mum and showed it to my teacher. I went around playing with people. After my mum picked me up and she got me sweets for being a brave girl. And after all school wasn't so bad.
My First Day of School by Lily
On my first day of school my mom walked me to my line and I pushed her away because I thought I was so cool in big school.
And when we all got in to the class Ms McManus came in and whispered something to my teacher. I put up my hand and said " Whispering in company is bad manners" !
