My mum’s trophy
|
|
My mum won lots of trophies when she was young, but this was her very first Irish
dancing trophy. She won it when she was about 5 years old. As you can see, it’s very old. You can tell that it is because it’s wooden. This trophy is about 33 years old.

My mam bought these masks in Liverpool about 20 years ago. She never really used them but she thought they were nice so… she bought them. I never intend to use them either but maybe one day they will come in handy.

A thatching stapler was used to thatch the roof of houses, in the 1900. You held the handle and stick the pointy end in to the roof, twist it around and pull it out |

The last |
|
The last was used by a shoemaker. He puts the shoe over the last so he can repair the sole or heel of the shoe. There are three different
holders on the last-small, medium and large. So if he was repairing
a small shoe, he would put it on the small holder.

The iron |
|
The iron is different from today’s iron in two ways. It’s made of metal and you hang it over an open-fire to heat it. It is round for ironing collars and shirts.
